YEAR IN REVIEW
Bluegrass 2009 Review
What a year for BluesRocks. We flew every chance we had and in some weather conditions we never before attempted. The club is so dedicated that we flew in the snow, rain, cold, heat, and wind. We did not fly when conditions violated the safety code though. Several launches ended early due to weather conditions and tired rocketeers but all-in-all we had fun and did it safely. Thanks to Nocturnal Knight Rocketry for supplying our needs at the launches.
We are hoping for a larger solid group that can regularly attend our launches in 2010. Become a solid part of BluesRocks.
List of 2009 Accomplishments

Congratulations and welcome to the world of High Power Rocketry
- The Club ended the year with $1910 which is fantastic for a club our size. We need to thank the club officiers and members for the planning and wise spending in 2009.
- The club obtained two new launch controllers complete with wire leads, extension cords to reach the launch pads, four new 4' x 1/4" SS launch rods and miscellanous hardware for the launch pads. Hopefully the club can purchase additional assets in 2010. So if you know of something the club is lacking let one of the club officers know and it will be considered for purchase. (I don't think a 4-wheeler for recovery is possible but would be nice for us old farts)
- Competiton
- We held three NAR sanctioned events this year, one open and two Regional Events.
- The NAR Open Event was the first NAR competition event hosted by BluesRocks in 2009 and was championed by Patrick Peterson. Several firsts occurred at this event.
- Sport Scale Competition which included judging entries.
- Altitude Competition using theodolites.
- Using GPS to set baseline on theodolites
- Thanks Patrick for raising the bar for the club and introducing us to several different aspects of NAR competition and pulling if off in a professional manner. You did a great job directing the competition this year. Keep up the great work.
- Patrick also directed our first NAR Regional Competition Event of the year in June.
- The BB09 Event was better than ever with catering on both days. The Saturday Night Buffet was unreal with all the food available. Prizes were excellent and the weather was cool but enjoyable. Thanks to the vendor participation we had some excellent raffle prizes.
- We had 521 flights this year that is 40 less than
last year.
- We had 552 motors burned thats 69 less than last
year.
- We had a total impulse of 31,933ns = Contrail O6300.
That is 4,513ns more than last year.
