Bluegrass 2012 Review

Launch attendance continued to decline in 2012.

The annual Blue Grass Blast was not held for the second year in a row due to the lack of an adequate field and membership participation to hold the event. .

List of 2012 Accomplishments

Membership now stands at 45.
There were four Certification attempts of which two were successfully completed. Which was a bright spot for the club.

  - October 13th - Johnny White - Skyburst - H410-7SK - Motor CATO attempt not successful.
- L2
  - January 7th - John Simson - The Rock - J357-17A - attempt not successful.
  - January 7th - Nick Greco - Greco 7 - J350 - attempt successful.
  - March 31th - Matthew Magginnis - Dark Star 4 - J360 - attempt successful.

We had 37 Fliers put up 208 flights this year. The number of fliers was down by 93 from last year but the number of flights as up by 22 from last year.
We burned 238 motors which was down by 12 from last year.
We had a total impulse of 16,297 N-S which was an up by an encouraging 4,051 N-S.
We had some unique rockets and some unusual flights.
There were a lot of excellent to average flights along with some unusual and heartbreaking (model destruction) flights.
All in all only a few CATOs occurred this year which is good for the hobby.

As always it is you who make BlueGrass Rocketry Society what it is today. Thanks to all who put in a lot of hard work in 2012 to make it a success and hopefully more people will hear about us and join in on the fun in 2013. It's been a lean year but we are shooting higher impurse motors and next year we will increase our number of fliers, flights and motor impulse totals.

Dues for the 2013 will remain at $20 and this includes launch fees for the year.
Non-members will have a $5 launch fee, 1st time fliers are free.
Children 16 and under free.
