BlueSkies 40 Report
April 03, 2010

Launch weather delayed the start to 12:00. Cloudy skies cleared out eventually but the wind was strong all day. Winds gusts kept us on our toes and caused several long treks.
Temperatures started out in the mid 50's but soon climbed into the 70's after the rain left. A group of students came from Cincy to fly several HPR rockets and test fly their class project which deployed a land rover on an Aerotech I600R.

We had 6 fliers with 23 flights and 23 motors burned. The total impulse was 4128 ns.(Cesaroni L1355) .

    1. Red Rocket (I600R) Great Flight. Rover landed without damage and model flew to an altitude of 1200 feet. Great Job Guys.
    2. Red Rocket (I600R) Great Flight. The hand rolled carbon fiber body tube exploded into many small pieces along with causing damage to the rover due to an ejecton failure. Lots of work needed to get this project back on track.

It was a long fun day for all who could make the launch. We had some great flights and some spectactular landings. Hopefully the Cincy group can get their model back together to complete their project.
We left the launch area at 5:22 pm with a day filled with rocket memories and some new friends.

Our next Sport launch is scheduled for May 8, 2010 at Sims Farm between 9 - 5 if weather permits and the fields have not been planted. Otherwise the launch will be at ADC Park and the time will be 10 - 5.

Stay tuned to the Bluegrass Rocketry Society web site for launch schedule updates.

    See you there.
